Website Design & Managment

My Experience

I’ve helped lead two major website redesigns,  one for Western Colorado University (a +2,000 page site) and another for The Adventure Company, a  Colorado rafting outfitter. Both projects required deep research, UX/UI strategy, SEO implementation, and a complete overhaul of navigation and content flow. My goal in each case was to create websites that were not only visually engaging and on brand but also user-friendly, optimized for search, and aligned with organizational goals.

The Challenge:
Western’s site was large, outdated, and difficult to navigate. Users relied heavily on the search bar because the navigation wasn’t intuitive, and the pages themselves looked dated and didn’t reflect the university’s brand.

My Role:

  • Conducted audience and competitor research to understand user needs.

  • Designed an admissions microsite to streamline the prospective student journey.

  • Built multiple iterations of navigation and page components in Adobe XD and Figma.

  • Redesigned navigation to reduce friction and help users find information without relying solely on search.

  • Implemented SEO improvements across numerous academic and admissions pages.

  • Collaborated with designers to ensure updated components matched Western’s brand identity.

The Impact:

  • Simplified navigation made it easier for prospective students and families to find key information.

  • Modernized site design improved usability and reflected Western’s identity more accurately.

  • SEO updates increased visibility of high-value academic and admissions content.

The Challenge:
The Adventure Company’s old site was outdated and confusing. Potential customers struggled to identify which rafting trips matched their skill and comfort level, and the user experience didn’t match the excitement of the brand.

My Role:

  • Led the full website redesign process, collaborating closely with a web designer.

  • Planned site structure, wireframes, and content flow to create a seamless booking experience.

  • Used colors, symbols, pictures, videos, and clear descriptions to simplify the decision-making process for trip selection.

  • Incorporated SEO to improve organic visibility.

  • Managed and maintained the site on a day-to-day basis after launch.

The Impact:

  • Turned a confusing, non-user-friendly website into an engaging, easy-to-navigate booking tool.

  • Helped customers feel more confident selecting trips by simplifying complex information.

  • Created a digital experience that matched the excitement of rafting and supported sales growth.
